A Peak Into My Mind For The Digital Badges Project

Adrien J.

Here in the second quarter, I can strongly state that the digital badges project was my favorite. To those who don't know what this project was, the digital badges was a project where I had to make 3 digital badges on Adobe Illustrator. Each of the badges I made had to be related to each other. The topic I chose to relate my badges to was cross country. My cross country season was ending when I did this project, so I decided to make a project in my XC season's honor. Now when I first began working on my badges I planned a simple layout that each of my badges would have. Round badge, title on the bottom, and color coordination were all things I considered in the planning stage. When I started my first badge I realized that I was going to have to make a person that looked like they were running. So with a bunch of ellipses and the shape builder tool, I made a person the looked like they were running. Instead of doing three separate people for three different badges, I simply duplicated the person I just made twice. After I finished with the person, I added color to all of my badges. I chose a color that helped describe the situation the person was in for each badge. Once I finished adding color, I created titles for each of my badges. I had a funny saying on each badge with the accomplishments listed underneath the saying. The font was also very important when making my title. I wanted to choose a font that looked interesting and went with the theme of my project, however, I did not want the font to draw more attention than the artwork. After looking through a bunch of fonts I was able to find the perfect font, or as I like to call it "font gold." After I finished with the title I was pretty much done with my badges. I made a few objects to go along with the funny saying but other than that I was done. Now the reason why I loved this project so much, is because it didn't stress me out and it came out just as I envisioned it. If there is one thing I could change about this project it would be to use the pen tool to draw the person instead of a bunch of ellipses. Other than that I do not have any concerns about this project. I am very happy I got to turn something I love into a cool piece of artwork and I would recommend this project to others.
