So I about a week ago I finished my motion graphics project. Who knew a simple 20-second motion graphic could require so much planning and effort. To begin this project, the first thing I had to do was storyboard. This is simply a phase in pre-production that gives me an idea of what my motion graphic is going to look like. Once I got the storyboard approved I began my production phase. To make the motion graphic I used a program called Adobe Aftereffects(AE). So the first thing I did was made background that represented me. After that, I began moving into the actual phases of animation.
Animation is a tricky process. Everything that moves needs to have tweens and keyframes. So the very first thing I animated was the letter A in my name. The good news about using AE is that it creates tweens for me so I don't have to make 100+ tweens. All I have to do is create keyframes and what AE will do is generate the tweens in between those keyframes. So as I mentioned before I animated the letter A in my name. I had it start off the screen to the right, which was a keyframe. The letter moved into the screen and stopped once it reached the middle of the screen(another keyframe). I could tell you all the animations I did but that would take forever so I just do a brief overview. I moved the letter a in my name as well as the rest of my name. I made my self-portrait appear from out of nowhere and made it shoot out 5 traits the represent me. After that I made both the traits and portraits disappear and made "the end" appear. Overall it wasn't a complex animation but it was a difficult project to make. Despite the difficulty, it was pretty fun and I hope that I will get good enough to make complex motion graphics.
