Animation Project: Check

Adrien J.

Earlier this week I finished my animation project. It was hard, it was frustrating, but it was also fun. Sometimes the best way to learn something is to figure out by trial and error. I not going to lie, Adobe Animate is hard to use, and even as I write this blog I am still confused about some of the tools. Learning the basics of adobe animate can take up to a week because animation overall is a tricky process. So for my animation project, I had to make an idle animation of a character of my design. The animation only had to be about 15 seconds, however it nearly took me three weeks to complete. For my animation project in specific, I created a wizard who changed colors and made magical spells. Now for the tricky parts.

I created my wizard through Adobe Illustrator, and so the first problem I faced is deciding which pieces of my wizard needed individual layers. This took about a day or two and so once I finished I quickly hurried to get my wizard into the animation program. For some reason when I tried to put my wizard into Adobe animate, the program gave me an incompatibility report. This problem soon fixed itself and so I began animating. One issue I realized was that I did not know which tween were used where, so with a little bit of research and trial and error I figured out. Once I figured out tween, animation ran smoothly for the most part. There were a few bumps, however that prompted me to explore and find creative solutions. One being the bone tool which I have grown to love. Animation, despite being easy after the tween problem, was still long and tedious. The good news for me is that this project showed some of my best work and for the first time in a long time, I feel as If there is nothing better I could have done. I know I am being a little too proud of myself, however I really enjoyed the work I put into this project.
