Long story short my computer was 3 weeks late but now its here and I am using 3ds max. So I will give a review on how I think of 3ds max late on but today I just want to talk about compound objects. So the only compound objects I knew of were Boolean which include union, subtract and intersect. Boolean is nice however there are so many other compound tools. You have terrain which creates well you guessed it, terrain. There is blob mesh, which makes objects look sorta liquidly. You also have Procutter which is like a more complex version of Boolean subtract .I have used all these tools at least once. My favorite by far is terrain. It is so cool how you can make land the looks real just based of some elevation lines. I am currently working on a compound project in which I have to create a canyon. I used the terrain tool to accomplish my canyon. I then created several boxes on one side of the canyon. This represents a town. Right now I am using Procutter and union to make the boxes into distinct buildings. Once I finish that I will used the blob mesh to create rocks. I will then use the scatter tool to scatter my rocks along the terrain. The last thing to do then is to create 3 plants and scatter throughout the map. This is the complete plan for my compound projects. The compound tools are super cool and fun to use and I am curious to see how they will turn out.
