Now if you read the blog title, you're probably waiting for an explanation of why I consider this industry a puzzle. Here is the explanation: there are so many pieces that come together to make a beautiful image. There are many experts that contribute to the making of a game. There are people who focus on concept art, models, visual effects, sounds, hardware, and so much more. While you need to have certain skills to be in those positions, (i.e. you have to know how to model if you want to be a 3d modeler) there are some broader skills that you need regardless of the area you decide to pursue in game design. These skills include but are not limited to communication, time management, responsibility, and cooperation. Now skills are important in the game industry, but there is also a thing called ethics that plays a big role in the game industry. Ethics are essential guides for game creators. They are rules that keep the work environment healthy and productive. While not every company has the same code of ethics, it is an important tool for success. Taking a step back from the moving parts that bring a game to life, I would like to bring attention to the blueprint that made these games a thought. Believe it or not, games have been around for centuries. While it has not been as flashy as it is today, the history of games is important to recognize. Older games help shape newer ones. Now there are a lot more things I could discuss, but for the sake of time, the game industry is complex in more ways than one, however in the end the final product is worth it.
