Unity Understanding

Adrien J.

I have officially begun game design. Well, not really, but this week I have started to learn about a game engine called Unity. It's hard to explain it, but essentially it's a software that takes all the past skill I have mentioned and put them into one to create a game. I won't go into specifics about the feature of Unity, however, I will talk about what I am doing in this program. So this week was the basics of Unity. Believe it or not, the "basics" of unity are a lot more complex. The reason is that there is just so many options, settings, and tool learn and use. To me, it's not that big of a deal, but I feel it's worth mentioning. So as I was saying, I have learned how to move basic options in Unity. This is similar to moving objects in 3ds Max. You use the move tool to select an object and drag it along the x, y, and z axes. I have also learned how to maneuver your view so that you can see individual objects or the entire scene. Additionally, I have learned, how to create models in Unity using the pro builder tool. It's crazy to think that all this time spent is 3ds max would make Unity easier to learn. Now that I think about it, Unity has many controls and functions that are similar to 3ds max. I am still completely the introductory unit for Unity, however, I have learned two important things so far. The first is that Unity is similar to other programs I have used in the past. The second thing I have learned is that Unity has so many tools and programs, that it can be overwhelming if you don't take it to step by step.
