So recently I have switched from working in Adobe Photoshop to Adobe Illustrator. These two programs are similar, however there is one thing that sets them apart more than anything else. Adobe Photoshop uses bitmap graphics while Adobe Illustrator uses vector graphics. Vector graphics are only composed of numbers and while they are fun to use, you would not use them to create photo-realistic images. Vector graphics have a more cartoonish look to them. I do not know a lot about what vector graphics are used for, however, I do know they can be used to make logos, new typography, and technical illustrations. If I wanted to make a logo for my company. All I have to do is draw on a drawing tablet until I have come up with the perfect logo. The graphics that are used on my drawing tablet are vector graphics. So as you can see, vector graphics are great for making logos and other digital illustrations. Overall I prefer vector graphics over bitmap graphics. I like the fact that with vector graphics I have the freedom to zoom in or out as much as I want without messing up the resolution. It is a lot easier to see what you are working on when your resolution is clear. In Adobe Illustrator, I can also take my work off the page which can be very useful when I am trying to focus on one item. Vector graphics are also a lot simpler when it comes to color. With Adobe Photoshop I have to choose colors that accurately show shadows and bright areas of my image to make it photo-realistic. With vector graphics, my colors are solid so I don't have to change them to make my image photo-realistic. Even though I like Photoshop for a specific projects I do have to say I prefer working with Illustrator rather than Photoshop.
-What are vector graphic and what are they used for
-Which do I prefer? Vector or Bitmap.
